who is Satan, really?

How it began, no one really knows but what is known is that God was the first creator in this known universe. He not only created Earth and Man, but all things outside it. He is known by many names, exists in many forms, and has told many stories of how It Should Be. For an unknown reason, He is fond of Earth. No one knows why. No one needs to know. He's God.
HEAVEN AND HELL are two sides of the same dimension. They are a different realm, separate from Earth. They hold not just humankind, but many other species in adherence to His Word for any given kind of being.
HEAVEN is beautiful. Rich and colourful and bright; calm and peaceful. The feeling one gets in heaven is one of relief, tranquility, and togetherness. There is nothing but joy to be found in Heaven. Every step you take feels light and freeing. There are no worries, no pain, no trouble. It is open, everything easy to find and accessible. Life there is simple.
HELL is beautiful in it's own way, but much different. It is dark with several layers and several nooks and crannies. It can be tricky to navigate and downright frightening in some areas. One is often followed with an uneasy feeling. Eyes are always watching, waiting. There is a restlessness and pain that plagues every crevice. Life is not simple here. You are always faced with a different monster, usually one of your own creation.
ANGELS are bound to His Word. They are messengers, and carry out His duties without question (usually). Some of these duties are less than savoury which include carrying out punishments, and death. As common with many biblical literature, there are many kinds of Angels and different Hierarchies.
DEMONS are more complicated and separated into FALLEN, HELLBORN, and COMMON. A Demon's main purpose is to create the dark to the light, the wrong to the right, and the question. They are not necessarily nefarious and actually tend to be more relatable to man as they can feel and experience more than Angels can.
A FALLEN is, as expected, an Angel who has Fallen (usually because He wanted them to, what with them not actually having free will and all). A HELLBORN is usually a demon who was born in Hell (most of these are the Kings, dukes, etc and tend to be both powerful and usually rather helpful). Than there is the common (also known as lessers), usually once human, who are really just foot-soldiers and shit disturbers. Not too powerful, often charged with some kind of punishment duty in hell. Often trying to escape. Can sometimes be incredibly violent and mindless.
Shaitan's world is a mashup drawn directly from Biblical texts and the Ars Gotia. When it comes to how Hell is, and what Demons are and do, most of that is drawn from The Keys of Solomon and my own creations.
Not all Demons are mindless things desiring destruction and horror and not all Angels are sweet darlings looking to protect and help man. It all comes down to one very simple question: do you obey God or do you disobey God?
THE UNHOLY TRINITY.
As above, so is below. As there is a Trinity in Heaven, there is a Trinity in Hell.
Lucifer, Diabolos, and Shaitan. Shaitan is distinctly not Lucifer and neither is he
Diabolos, but he is a part of both of them. He is the adversary, always erupting
discourse with God's word and His Angels. His duty is to reflect the opposing
side and constantly work against the will of the Holy.
His counterparts are the Diabolos ( the slanderer, the accuser ) and Lucifer ( the
bringer of dawn ).

Satan is not Lucifer
Satan (and Diabolos) were created by Lucifer. Think of Satan and Diabolos as The Son and The Holy Ghost. Aspects of, separate entities, and yet the same. Satan is an intellectual and a diplomat, however he can be quite fun with an impossibly dry sense of humor and sarcasm to boot.
Since he is the adversary, it's expected that he takes pleasure in creating disruption and causing doubt and questioning. He is entirely capable of being cruel, horrifying, and treacherous, but he is far from a caricature of evil. Satan holds the utmost admiration and love for God, believe it or not, and does what he does with pride (thinking it an honour to be an adversary). While he is a more serious demon in general, he is likely the nicest of the three. Perhaps this is part of his game, though.
Being that Shaitan is the adversary, he has a fairly level-headed temperament and excellent at keeping his cool when in debate. It's hard to rattle him into emotions and he'll often full out admit he's in no state for decent conversation if you do manage to stir him.
His demeanour is dry, and while his wit can be very keen he delivers it in such a manner that it's sometimes difficult to tell whether he is joking with you or insulting you. If you want to match wits and banter, he'll certainly take you up on that, although Shaitan is a little more serious than his counterpart Diabolos (although not always serious and not nearly as serious as Lucifer). He is often the one consulted with when his counterparts are in need of soundness. Consider Shaitan to be a middle of the Unholy Trinity. The balance.
This does not, whatsoever, mean he is boring. He is more than capable of having a good time but he tends to sway more toward activities and conversations that are engaging, revealing, or push some sort of boundary.
For the most part, he's honest. At least, he says what he fully believes or knows to be true but being that he is the adversary he is also an excellent liar. When duty calls, the point is not always to expose the truth but rather to provoke thought.
POWER.
Being one of the three most powerful entities of Hell, it's safe to assume his power is plentiful and potent when exercised. He is the lord of fire, as so can control the element with ease. He holds most of the usual demonic abilities: extreme strength and speed. He is difficult to summon and difficult to hold in any demon trap (although it is possible). He can summon things, people, and other entities with ease. He is capable of telepathy and possession as well- depending on the person, it's sometimes easy and sometimes difficult. He knows when a soul is hell-bound and he can make pacts, deals, and trades.
If you are one of his followers, his aid is plentiful and grand. In Satanism, he symbolises both freedom and responsibility. He can help free the soul, allow them to follow their own charge, give them courage, strength, and will to do what needs to be done. Anything that has to do with confidence and creativity can be channeled through him. He is also a voice of reason and can help a soul who needs to face their consequences and take responsibility.
